The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for owning the creation and implementation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of systems and services that run on cloud platforms.

We are looking for an SR Cloud Engineer who enjoys automating processes and systems, has proven experience with AWS, and a strong belief in keeping things simple. Some adjectives describing the infrastructure you'd build include robust, simple, extensible, maintainable, understandable, and measurable.

  • As a SR Cloud Engineer you will drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, and performance.
  • You will assist teams in building the test and production infrastructure needed to deploy resilient, redundant, secure applications.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of high availability elastic solutions that implement industry standards using AWS.
  • As the technical expert- you will have ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service.
  • Troubleshoot highly complex problems for which the analysis and resolution require extensive knowledge of many diverse system components.
  • Write tools to automate build, deployment and common infrastructure tasks
  • Your background will include deep knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability).
  • You will have experience deploying Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a deep understanding of existing AWS technologies including experience covering cloud security, network, cloud integration, active directory, SSO, compute, storage, database, monitoring, cloud tools, and other AWS services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge (Git, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, and Cloud formation).
  • Experience in designing HA, DR, Backup and retention architectures on cloud platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of security trends and industry standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies is preferred.
  • Bachelors in Computer Science (or similar)
  • Ability to leverage existing technologies to create simple, highly automated solutions with low maintenance overhead
  • 5+ years infrastructure experience;
  • 2+ years experience with AWS and Docker
  • Experience working in a continuous delivery environment
  • Continuous Integration, Log Aggregation, Metrics Aggregation experience.
  • Experience managing all aspects of high-traffic websites, including scaling, profiling, debugging, and stress testing
  • Ability to understand developers and business needs
  • Knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux
  • Strong sense of accountability towards the stability of our system
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Rails experience a plus
  • Ruby knowledge
  • Knowledge of Git or other distributed version control systems
  • Experience working with remote teams a plus.
